I lost the directions on how to wind it so it chimes the correct amount of chimes for the appropriate time.
I’m sorry I wrote the question the wrong way. It is battery run, but there is detailed steps to go through to get it to chime correctly. Ireceived it as a gift in 2001 and unfortunaley lost those directions. It was purchased at Things Remembered. They don’t the directions either.

I used to buy them at a chain "Natural wonders" but they went out of business a while back. I know i can get them on the net, but I want to support a local merchant. any local area would be ok but, Lately ive noticed my gas gauge go from full to empty on even the smallest trips (at least it seems like it). so saying that, anywhere in the valley would be desirable.

I had a teacher who had something like a music box at her house and I would love to get one like it. It was a box with wooden top and bottom, and glass sides. To make it play, you turn it upside down, and a bunch of little metal balls fall onto some metal chimes, making beautiful little "ding" noises. Then you could turn it upside down again, and the balls would fall back to the other side and hit the chimes again. I think maybe there was a weak magnet on the top and bottom so not all the balls fell at the same time.
It didn’t play a melody or anything, but it was really cool because it played a different series of notes every time, based on which chimes the balls fell onto.
If anyone can tell me what this is called or where to get one, I would really appreciate it!
