Alaskan themed christmas tree ideas?
I have never actually been to Alaska…but I want to go really bad…so I was kinda just walking around Garden Ridge this afternoon with my mom and we went through the christmas section (I know they already have christmas stuff out….I love it!). I then had this great idea to get a second christmas tree for our house this year. Our house is big enough and I have always said that I love christmas trees so much that when I grow up and have kids then I am going to have at least two trees…a family one and then one I can decorate with a new theme every year…well now I want to go ahead and start that tradition this year and I want the theme to be Alaskan…so any ideas. By the way we live in Texas so I thought it might be a unique theme that you wouldn’t see in Texas too much. Lol! My ideas include things like:
A partly flocked tree…maybe just the tips and stuff to make it look like snow.
Moose ornaments
Clear lights
Bears
Pinecones????
Any other ideas from people that have been to Alaska or know a lot about Alaska?

Fishing is big in Alaska, so fish ornaments or fishing boat ornaments would be appropriate. Salmon, crabs, and other marine mammals are very much associated with Alaska. Oil is obviously a huge part of Alaska, but I don’t know if it would be too political to put a little tanker truck on your tree. I would find it funny, but who knows what other people would think?
Also, the Alaskan state quarter comes out this year! You could incorporate that into your tree, either as ornaments or mixed into a garland.
I think Alaska is the state with the most small planes that have pontoons for water landing – you could probably find those at a toy store for decorating. And don’t forget to find a little dogsled to put on the tree as that’s a big sport/form of transportation for Alaska.
Lastly, if you could find a doll dressed up in fur like an Eskimo, you could put that at the top of your tree. Or maybe you could find an igloo to put up there!
Buy a all white tree or buy the fake snow that comes in a can and spray the branches
For the ornaments you could also have igloos, white wolves, goats, sea otters, seals, People fishing, fish, fishing boats, whales, walruses, ice cycles and ice cubes. If you can’t find ice cube ornament go to Michael’s or a toy store and buy rubber ice cubes and poke a paper clip into the top and hang. Also for the pine cones I would put some fake snow on them as well. You could also hang small gloves and have a hat as the tree topper.
For the garland I would use silver beads or just plain silver.
