Are these Simple Sentences correct?
Write ten simple sentences with an adjective phrase modifying each subject. Place < > around the the simple. Place parenthesis around each adjective phrase.
1.The <houses> (on the hill) are very old.
2.I placed the <vase> (by the garden) of roses.
3.The <man> (with the blue tie) is my Biology teacher.
4.As a child, < I > played (under the table) with my toys.
5.(In the weedy), overgrown <garden>, I spotted a large snake.
6.There was a man dancing (along the busy), six-lane <highway>.
7.The <cats> (at my uncle’s house) are very annoying.
8.The <ornaments> were shipped (from the Philippines.)
9.My <aunt lives> (by the lake.)
10.The <books> I am reading are (about college scholarships.)

I assume you need to put <> around the subject, not the "simple".
1. OK.
2. There is nothing modifying "vase". (by the garden) modifies "placed
. You would need to add something like (green) <vase>.
3. OK
4. (As a child) is modifying <I>. (under the table) is modifying "played".
5. (In the weedy, overgrown)
6. (six-lane) is modifying <highway>.
7. OK
8. (from the Phillipines) modifies shipped. You would need something like (blue) ornaments.
9. Nothing is modifying <aunt>, Try: My (aging) <aunt> lives by the lake.
10. OK, although I would put the closing parenthesis inside the period.
