I’m trying to design a solar powered garden watering system for my parents, whom live in the desert. I have two possible options:
1. Use a primary water heating system, where a water tank is heated by the sun and the water is condensed, and then drains (via gravity) onto the plants.
-problems.. The water will only flow during 75% of the year, the water has to be replaced with an electric pump, and I have no clue what dimensions\materials will be required for the base water tank.
2. A secondary solar heating system, where solar cells power batteries that then drive a heating system and a refill pump.
-problems… I don’t have any clue how many watts are going to be required from the solar cells in order to keep the whole system running, and I don’t know what type of heating unit to use in order to turn the water into vapor.
So I was wondering what system I should go with? Plus, can you elaborate on why one is better\cheaper than the others.
Hardy har har. Very funny. But there isn’t much rain in the DESERT!
I’m not too hot on the idea of a gravity fed system unless there was a valve that was set to increase output upon higher demand times (i.e. hottest point during day), and turn off during the evenings. I appreciate the input though. Got my mind going too.

Hi Everyone!
I am looking for a professional garden design software (CAD), which helps me to move from hand drawing to the computer. I am looking for a program that will allow me to create hand drawn look-a-likes on the PC. I found a software called DynaScape, but it is rather expensive (3000$).
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sebastian

I want to paint and decorate my living room like you see in magizines but my husband has a plasma tv and an xbox that has to stay there. I was thinking of getting an armoire or entertainment center but they are so expensive. How can I incorporate the tv and things with the design of the living room? I want it to look like a sitting room rather than the room everyone hangs out in, you know, pretty I guess. One of those rooms you see in Southern Living Magizine or Better Homes and Gardens.

I chose the Swansong skeleton for my shoes because that caught my eyes when I first saw it. I designed my shoes based on places almost every chic loves, and that will be the beach, the garden or maybe even the woods. I would like to name my shoes FLEAOD because of my three inspiration-FLora, bEAch and the woODs.
The floral prints make the shoes look FRESH and chic at the same time, as if someone just plucked petals of roses and sticked it on your shoes. The big rose will be the most catchy detail as it really makes every girl’s toes stand out, there’s no reason to do a pedicure anymore! Those string of ropes attached to the sling part reperesent the beach as they have a sailor-y look. This makes the girl wearing the shoes appears tougher because she’s not the girl who only knows how to wear makeup, but also has a independent and a STRONG side.At last, the wooden details remind me of the woods that’s filled with lots of MYSTERY waiting for us, human beings to explore. Just like a girl who is waiting for her right man to feel and know what’s inside her.
Once you put on this pair of shoes, you will definitiely become the spotlight of the crowd and get attention from every single person. In conclusion, this pair of shoes makes every girl fresher, stronger and mysterier. But the most important, more confident!

My mom is trying to become a interior designer and as a project she is going to design my room to look like i am in the middle of a garden and she wants me to look for flowers but i need your help. as my room will be painted like a garden at sunset, i would like the flowers tie in with a sunset. like morning glories calla roses, or even something that has nothing to do with it but are just unique and pretty like bleeding hearts (this is a real flower) they don’t have to tie in with a sunset though. thank you so much for the help!!!

I like contemporary design but still like some green in my yard and some grass or ground cover. How do I lay this type of patio in my garden? Advice for the planting inbetween or the best type of pavers to use? Examples below! How do I prep the ground and lay the stones and do i need cement or anything?

Mr. Toil is designing a symmetrical garden with 3 separate plots. A total of 12 orange flowers, 6 red flowers, and 8 yellow flowers are divided equally between garden plots A-1 and A-2. Garden plot B has 2 orange flowers, 3 red flowers, and 11 yellow flowers. Mr. Toil wants the ratio of orange flowers to the total number of flowers to be the same in each garden plot. He wants the ratio of yellow flowers to the total number in plot B to be the same as the ratio of red flowers to the total number in each of the A plots.
How many yellow flowers does he have to move from plot B to each of the A plots to achieve his goals?

What is the industry standard program for architecture? Is it still AutoCad? I’m looking for a program that will let me design the interior and exterior of homes, as well as get blueprints from it. Currently I use the Better Homes and Gardens program just to play around with, but I’ve also used Maya and 3DSM, so I do have a grasp on the more "complex" programs. Cost really isn’t an issue! I’m just trying to find the best program available for what I’m trying to do without having to resort to 4 different programs and then mesh it all together! Thanks!!
(Oh and I’m not an architect or interior designer! I’m in web and graphic design!)
