Does anyone know where I can get a bird net from in Ireland?
Starlings and other wild birds are attacking my young apples on my tree already, at the rate the hungry little feckers are going, they will have the whole tree stripped bare by the end of next week! Some one mentioned a bird net but I don’t know if they can be found in the typical normal corner pet shops around here. If not, does anyone know how I can keep them off the tree without harming them or using chemicals? I already tried wind chimes but they don’t work.

One of my neighbours has hung old CDs from the branches, a bit like Christmas decorations, and says they work well to keep birds away. There is a kind of net fencing that might work, you could try garden centres or any place that stocks farming needs. A good garden centre should have nets suitable for protecting trees or fruit bushes.
You can buy netting online from that big garden centre in Johnstown in Kildare:

Aldi sometimes sell it too, but it’s not fine enough to keep the smaller birds out.
CDs are a new one to me bluebell, I might try that.
Have you tried local flower nurseries? If you are having the problem most likely others have as well- any place that specializes in plants may have one.
I know a lot of the stores near me keep the smaller birds away with a figure of an owl- they see the owl and think its a predator- just put it in a spot they will see it. I don’t know if it will work with starlings and trees but hey- its worth a shot.
