Make dirt cup sundaes, using flower pots, fill with pudding and whip cream, push a few gummy worms down in there…top with crushed oreos to look like potting soil and put a cute fake daisy in each one!
Let the girls take home the flower pots as favors…..you can decorate them first or buy cute ones at the dollar store!
Make finger sandwiches, fruit kabobs, and whatever other foods you want. Or, have all mini foods, sweet and savory, and serve them on tiered serving peices like at afternoon tea.Use clean, never-used terra cotta pots and saucers for serving pieces. The fruit kabobs look spectacular arranged in a terra cotta pot. The dirt cups are cute but are a bit juvenile (IMO). Make cupcakes with chocolate frosting (cover with crushed oreos if you wish) and garnish with a sugared edible flowers. Have a tea service and let the girls take home their place markers as favors, which can be mini terra cotta pots with silk gerber daisies and the girls names written on plant markers. You could also have real flowers in the pots with the names on the pots. The girls can even pot their own flowers as an activity. Good luck and have fun!
I saw some cupcakes on a magazine recently, that had an oreo on the top of each, with yellow piped petals (you could use the squirt can storebought ones, with the tips) to look like sunflowers. They attached a red M&M with a little chocolate frosting, and piped a line down the back & little dots, to look like ladybugs:) …. You should have a variety of iced teas (regular, raspberry, peach) and some tea sandwiches (which you could cut out with flower cookie cutters)- flavored cream cheese is good, or cucumber or tomato …. A fruit salad served in a hollowed-out watermelon shell … They could play croquet (like the elegant Victorian ladies did) … Some paper sun parasols for favors & decorations would be cute; or individual little pots with the seeds already in them….
Garden party ideas:
Pot of English tea with cups and saucers
a tier of biscuits and cakes
cheese and cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off
a jug of flavored iced tea
Strawberries and cream
carrots, celery, peppers and cucumber sticks with dip
games; croquet, skittles, beach ball, badminton or bowls
maybe a small paddling pool to dip your feet in?
