Good crystal glass usually has a manufacturers name etched somewhere at the base, Stuart is one example and if you flick the rim with your finger it should give a nice ringing sound but, try to get it valued by a jewelry store or somewhere thats sells quality crystal.
DON’T drop it! Take a picture of the markings, and ask a local antique store if they know anything about it. Check link:

The sound it makes when you flick it with a fingernail will tell you whether it is a quality piece. A ringing sound when flicked, will indicate quality.
