Oh my, I am so sorry to hear that. It is a phantom itch. It is probably / realistically the tip end of your severed nerve endings that you are feeling. They will tingle and itch when severed and in the healing process.
you have phantom limb syndrome, its not stupid, you can do a search about it. When you cut off a limb, your brain still registers it as there, it’ll stop with time.
it is itching because it is healing; once the healing is complete the itching should stop completely.
Healing meaning skin cells being recreated now that you are missing part of your body (kinda like a scab).
I have heard of phantom pain, but never of it itching.
Ask your dr about it.
I,m not a doctor someone told me that it icthes because it,s heal good i see take somthing in between cast don,t take my word for ask your doctor my there is a pill for that . good luck be carfull with the rest of your fingies
its called phantom limb. it will go away with time.
As one who has had one of his legs cut off in a railroad accident, I can tell you that, as the doctors told me, you have "loose" nerve endings in the hand that still communicate to the brain that the finger is there, since that particular nerve is still alive and well all the way to the point where it got severed. I can tell you that I feel sensations all the way down to my foot that was once there, and I can show you on your foot EXACTLY where I feel that sensation of pain or other pressure, and yet my leg was lost all the way up to just above the knee 8 years ago. Just look at it this way, you still have a great central nervous system (CNS) that is working perfectly, despite the "interruption of service", so to speak, that occurred when you lost your finger. Once you get that perspective down, you won’t be so confused about it, and you’ll learn to accept it and have fun with your family and friends when they can’t figure out how you can still feel stuff on a finger that doesn’t exist anymore. Enjoy the humor and fun you’ll have! I have, for 8 years now! God Bless you.
