Ideas for a garden themed second bday party?
My daughter will be 2 in August. We’re having a party for her with about 10 of her little friends (and their parents!) She loves being outside, and all the little creatures out there, so we’re doing a garden theme… ladybugs, ants, bees, butterflies. Any good ideas for decorations, snacks, activities? Thanks in advance!

For an activity, you could have the kids plant bean seeds in a cup of water. Then they could have that to take home as party of favor and they can grow their own little plants. If it’s outside, you probably don’t need to many decorations. You could just tie some balloons to a tree, and you could maybe put some picnic blankets on the ground. You could let them have a picnic on the ground when it’s time to eat. Eating on the ground is always fun! For snacks you can serve garden-type snacks, like cut up veggies and fruit with different dips. Even if some of the kids don’t like veggies, they’ll eat the fruit. You could also read a garden-themed story, like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, if you want another activity. Have fun! I think it’s a great party theme!
we are doing a similiar party for my daughter in november except she is jungle themed.
some ideas are butterfly cakes
these are made from a simple cupcake recipe that you could find on the internet and then cut the top, fill with cream then cut top in half and add to the cake to make it look like wings then between the wing add jam.
also you could get the kids to make paper flowers or insects that they think they could find in the garden.
you culd set it up like a tea party
try making little sandwhiches that look like flowers with a cookie cutter
Dirt cake!!!! You can make it in a bucket and serve it with a shovel too. And put lots of gummy worms in it.
OMG! for favors you can make little plastic cups filled with oreo crumbs as dirt. Get flower lollipops and stick them in the dirt. and you can put gummi worms sticking out of the dirt. so cute and all edible.
A bug hunt. Have all the kids, with the help of parents if needed find some bugs, they can all look at them. My kids love finding bugs. when we are at the playground and someone finds a ladybug or caterpiller especially everyone gathers around and looks at the poor little scared bug. You can get little bug catchers and have them put grass and leaves in there so the bugs will feel comfy. they can put the bugs they find in there, when you are done they can let them go to be with their families.
get some soil and 10 plants. they can plant them in a paper cup and when they get home they can plant them in the ground. that and a shovel and mini watering can could be the favors.
Before the party you could have a playdate at a local farm, we have lots here. Ask the parents if they would like to go on a playdate to pick some veggies and fruits. you can tell the kids they will be picking the food for the party. it could be a pre party, pack a lunch, the kids can play together and the moms can chat. if it is to much it would be fun for just you and yor daughter. my kids love going to the farm.
Pin the spots on the ladybug. Or make a tree with a nest and pin the birdy in its nest.
set up a sprinkler and or baby pool to play in.
A tea party would be soooo cute. have little hats, purses, neclaces fancy shoes…or ask the kids to come dressed in their own, have the tea party and they can change into their bathing suits or play clothes.
If you have a sandbox you can hide little bugs(plastic) in the sand and have the kids find the bugs.
An "egg" hunt would be lots of fun for them. Use easter eggs….but call them bird eggs, and have a bird egg hunt.
