Patio door installation, generally how much does it cost?

I am getting a new patio door, sliding glass installed. Generally how much should it cost for the price of the door, and the installation?

Contrary to the above, a GOOD patio door costs more than $600. For example, an Andersen PermaShield door will run around $1,000, depending on the options. Yes, you can buy a cheap vinyl door for around $600, but you get a cheap vinyl door. Labor, if it is a simple installation should be around $500.
As with most items, you get what you pay for. Splurge on a more costly door which has dual pane glass and is energy rated.
The installation can vary depending on many factors. Again, you get what you pay for when it comes to installation. Check with a contractor who will give you a price for the purchase and installation and any permits that may be required.

A good patio door will run you up to $ 600. 00 add about two third of the price for the installation and the total could be from $800 to $1000.00. If you are handy, you could save a lot and do the installation yourself. I did mine myself with the help of the wife, but that is an experience she would like to forget.
