How does everybody feel about wind chimes?

I put one a few days ago in the balcony of my apartment. I really like it but I don’t want a neighbor to complain. Should I keep it or take it down?

How to keep cat from jumping apartment patio wall?

I’m moving to my first apartment which is on ground level. We have a fairly large patio blocked off with a four foot wall. How can I keep my cat from jumping the wall? I’ve thought about putting potted plants on the wall, but in the autumn we get strong winds which might knock them over.
I should mention that the wall is made out of some concrete material, not wood.

What should I do about neighbor’s wind chimes?

My downstairs neighbor has been complaining about the wind chimes I keep on my porch. The real culprit is the neighbor in the apartment next to mine :(

He has larger wind chimes but they are harder to see then mine and I always take mine down on really gusty days. I tried to tell my downstairs neighbor this but she is still calling management and when I try to talk to my next door neighbor he pretends he isn’t home but his car is there.

What should I do?

I have two new neighbors who recently moved into the apartment below me. Our patios are stacked on top of each other. I have no problem with them actually smoking, but when they smoke outside, it drifts up through my patio and into my open window. THey keep their patio door shut to keep smoke from getting into their house, yet it all comes into mine. They are nice people, and I don’t want to start some sort of feud. How do I approach them about not smoking outside . . . I mean its outside?

It’s a standard, sliding glass patio door on the second floor balcony. Approximately 8 or 9 feet wide total.

I can feel cold air coming through like crazy , and it’s not even officially winter yet!

I have vertical blinds which i must keep up and usable and I can’t do any permanent changes because this is an apartment.

Can I bug-bomb a tiny storage closet on my patio?

I have a tiny storage closet separate from my apartment, with access on my back patio. The dimensions are equal to an average indoor closet, so I figure a normal bug fogger would be more than overkill. Are there any foggers specifically for something that size, or does anyone have any wonderous ideas? We have very poisonous spiders in the area and I don’t want to risk myself or any of my friends/family.

My husband and I live in an apartment, so we are restricted to container gardening for the time being. Our tree will be outside year-round (our kitty thinks the ornaments are her toys). The trees that I have seen in the shops around here are about 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) tall, and are some variety of fir.

I’ve no idea how fast they grow so I have no idea what sized pot to plant it in to give it room to grow. We’d like to eventually plant this tree in a yard.

Thank you!

Wind chime problem - PLEASE HELP, PLEASE?

I have hated wind chimes since I was a child, to me they are creepy and annoying (Please, no offense to anyone who likes them). I live in a duplex and my neighbor is nice but kind of inconsiderate when it comes to certain things (i.e. wind chimes and parking - parking thing is resolved for now). She is an older lady and her children are grown. Mine are younger and I know occasionally can be loud, for instance going up and down the stairs. We are always on them for no thumping and bumping because they need to be considerate of our neighbor. My problem is she has got this huge set of wind chimes set right in the middle of our shared front porch. Even with TV on I can hear them ALL DAY and through the night until I go to bed. We have lived in our apartment for 9 months and I really can not stand it any longer. I do not want to cause any problems and I am not sure if going to the landlord would be the right thing. I just can’t stand it. It is very inconsiderate to assume everyone likes wind chimes. What should I do - any suggestions? I thought about going out at night and tying a string around them and maybe she would get the hint. Please any suggestions may be helpful.

Just for the record, my husband can’t stand them either, but I think he is better at tuning them out.

what do you like to put inside your house?

that is if you have a house or ap[artment. I visualize my apartment with mix of asian flavor likw the chime wind with a charm, buddha statues for luck, wooden katana set, futon, few dragon statues, bamboo vase. Course i also would have black and silver furniture. I would have a secondary room as a library and computer room.

I just want to check with others to see if Im not right to feel this way..

I live in a two apartment home, I live upstairs and the land lord and his finace live downstairs. Theres a "garden" in the front yard where she planted some flowers and plants last year, most of the plants are now dead, but some flowers are still standing. My land lord keeps saying she is going to work on it.. but never does, she takes a lot of naps when shes home so it doesnt realy get done. No big deal, its there yard and all.

So, I wanted to help and I cleaned it all out and he was happy with that. I told him I didnt remove any of the dead things though as I didnt feel I had a right to since his finace planted them, not I. I removed all the wet leaves that had been there since last fall also pulled out all the weeds and removed the garbage that blew in there. I asked if I could put some small shepards arms (hooks) in the ground and put some wind chimes in, they both said yes…. (Continued…….)
and his finace said "Do you whatever you want that makes the house look better." So the next weekend I went down to the store and purchased some pretty pinwheels and put them in there also. I made sure I stuck them into the ground were they were not hurting any existing flowers or plants. They looked realy nice and gave the yard some color. :) I went out and came back and found them pulled out of the yard and tossed at the bottom of my stairs with a note saying "Sorry but Im not a pinwheel person" I found the same message in my email box, so I emailed her back and told her I removed the other things to, and told her sorry for the inconvienence. She replied wih "I like the wind chimes, just not the other stuff."

I was very upset by that. I went out of my way to spend the money and time to try and make the yard look a little better and she just pulled them out and tossed them at the bottom of my steps. She did say to add whatever.. if she only wanted wind chimes, shouldnt she have
said that? But since she didnt, do you think she could have just told me she didnt like pinwheels and had me remove them instead of her just ripping them out of there?

Please tell me if Im right for being upset or not? I realy could use some opinions please.

(Sorry for the length.)
No Joy, she is not. She is 50, I am 27.
