My mom is trying to become a interior designer and as a project she is going to design my room to look like i am in the middle of a garden and she wants me to look for flowers but i need your help. as my room will be painted like a garden at sunset, i would like the flowers tie in with a sunset. like morning glories calla roses, or even something that has nothing to do with it but are just unique and pretty like bleeding hearts (this is a real flower) they don’t have to tie in with a sunset though. thank you so much for the help!!!

I live in Oakland, CA, and these "mystery flowers" appeared in my deck garden. I’m including links to pics for easier identification. The first flower started out with white petals, but now they’re turning a fuschia color. The second flower now has a white star-shaped five petal design with a yellow center. Does anyone know what these are?

The first photo actually shows two different mystery plants. The chamomile-like flowers are in the forefront, and there’s another mystery vine-like plant in the background.

We have a split level home and I want to plant flowers in the areas below the upper windows (also in front of the lower windows). I’m new at this stuff and inexperienced in what to do. The left side is a half circle about 12×15, and the right side is a long rectangle about 3×12. I was thinking flowers on the left side and 3-4 flower bushes on the right side. Or should I do flowers on both?
Does anyone know of a place where I can design it or can you help me? I’d like to do a 3-season garden but have no clue where to put what. How do I make it so something is always in bloom? (minus winter of course). Any help would be great, thanks!

I have a 4 foot space between my house and the sidewalk. 2 1/2 ft x about 30 ft has been a rock garden with coneflower, snow on the mountain and another flower that is ferny at the bottom and has tall white and pale pink flowers. I have left this for the past 11 years and next spring will be redoing it. Within that space is a spigot, and 2 window wells. There is edging and the other 1 1/2 ft is grass. The edging is straight. Any ideas for this space?? I like the rock because I don’t have to pull weeds as much as we are gone most weekends in the summer. We are just looking for a way to change the space? Any ideas are welcome

I have all the supplies to make a small (dinner plate size) garden stepping stone, but need some ideas for what the design should be. I have different colored glass, but can’t come up with a small picture.
Like a fish, flower, etc.
Can someone give me some more ideas??

Hi everyone! Okay, so at my school, we do these design challenge things, and this time we have to design a garden. Well, the winning group gets to actually plant their garden and gets like 20 extra credit points in every class. I really want my group to win, but the thing is, we really don’t know anything about gardening, so I was wondering if any of you experienced gardeners could kindly help me out with my questions?
1. What plants would grow successfully? Mainly vegetables, fruits and herbs. (This is around the Detroit, Michigan area, and the area we would have to plant in has partial sunlight [I think that's the correct term])
2. We’re close to a wooded area, so deer are a potential problem…I heard there was a flower you could put around your garden to discourage deer, but I’m not sure what it is.
Thanks so much in advance, and I apologize for it being so long!

The patio will be stone and it will be a relatively small one. If you include the cost of flower landscaping…is 16,500 dollars too much?
it’s shaped kinda of like bean. no special features… it has brick surrounding it.

now so many new shoots and fresh new leaves are coming. but no flower. my question is if the plant stopped producing beans ,have we destroy the plant and grow a new one. or after a certain period of time the same old plant will produce beans again

I didn’t really make much of an effort at my previous garden but I’m moving now and would like some ideas as to how to manage the new one. It’s pretty long though I’m not sure of the length as I haven’t had to chance to measure it yet but it’s not very wide. I love looking at pics of garden in magz etc and they look so beautiful and I’d like to get some suggestions as to how I can get my garden to look pretty as well as chic so I can host some late evening parties in the summer evenings. (I’m so excited! lol) Also some suggestions on the plants I can plant that will look pretty and will flower by summer if I plant them now?
