18months ago my friends bought me 2 goldfish for no reason. they gave me all the stuff, fish bowl, gravel, plastic plant, dechlorinator, crystal things, food etc. I kept my fishies for 18months, they were the best pets ever and i was totally ignorant to the fact that keeping them in a bowl was wrong coz they were always so happy
when my fish started showing signs of ammonia poisoning i did lots of research and found out everything,i straight away went and bought a proper tank (6gallon, its all i could afford, which is fine for the 2 fishies that i had) but read that i had to let it cycle! my fishies died a few days later
on my birthday, it was so sad. i planned to get 2new fish to put into my tank but i wanted to give the tank 3weeks to cycle, its been 2 so far, but today my stupid friend turned up with 5 goldfish! said she thought i was lonely! i had to put them all into the tank and now im afraid they will die!i still have the fishbowl, should i put two in there? what do i do??
I would put them in a fishbowl only until i found someone to give them to or bought another tank but would it be better to put the two little ones (not even an inch long) into the fishbowl so that i dont overcrowd and overload the tanks filtration system? I’m so stressed about it, i cant handle having more fish die
my local petshop says they cant take them and i dont know anyone else with a tank, except the friend who bought the 5 fish and clearly she doesnt know anything about them (shes killed lots of goldfish!)
please help, what would be best?

My boyfriend is thinking of getting me a goldfish, so I thought until I get round to buying a tank or a proper fish bowl, would it be ok to just put it in a normal (big) bowl?
Thanks
Does it have to have a filter system? Can I not just clean it often?

It was lifeless. Broken fencing surrounded the dead flowers and leaves, laying across the desert of dry soil. The crisp, dry air, consumed even the slightest hint of warmth, and overgrown weeds grew tall. I stood at the center, taking it all in. Years ago, this had been the most beautiful garden. The garden was once my mothers sanctuary, her hobby, and one of the greatest pleasures in her life. Working in the garden I think, had saved her sanity over the years. A nice decked area adjacent to the house held a small table, surrounded by chairs, and potted plants. Below it was a grassed area, bordered by shrubs and perennials on all sides. A small pond sat to the side, home to eight, similarly named, identical goldfish. Two birdbaths, a humming bird feeder, and loads of nut feeders were scattered everywhere. Hanging baskets were filled with wild flowers, and wind chimes would sing chords throughout the day. The garden was full of life.
I feel like its a bit choppy throughout.
What can I do?

When I first got them, I had three actual goldfish and the two others were white and a brown/green color. When I first got them, I had no actual tank to put them in and ended up putting them in a small crystal bowl for about 3 months.
I recently got a big fish tank with a filter, rocks and a clean enviornment. And lately I noticed, that the brown goldfish is starting to turn gold and I am wondering if this is because of the new enviornment I put him in? Or if he was just young or something? I am also wondering if this means that the white one will turn gold as well?
Ok thanks and please no rude or pointless comments. Thanks again(:

We have been asked to do a artist study on any still life artist we want — i have chosen Roy Lichtenstein.
Could you please just check these are still life for me:

http://www.artchive.com/artchive/L/lichtenstein/lichtenstein_lamp.html

I definately think the first two are but then the last one has a goldfish in it, so would that make it not still life?
Oh and does anyone know of a free website where you can type in something and then it converts it to a different style of writing — i am thinking like comic book sort of writing found in speech bubbles — which you can then copy and paste. As i have looked and all i can find is ones where you have to either pay or download all this stuff or it won’t let you copy and paste the text.
Thank you

I purchased a baby fish 5 days ago and I’m not quite sure exactly what the species is. It looks like a goldfish, but I don’t know. I bought it in a small crystal bowl… should I keep it in there or change it into a tank?

Hi i have got a rectangle, glass tank, which ive worked out at 12.5 gallons. It has got a filter in the corner an air pump in the other corner, a small bridge ornament and a small plastic plant.
I currently have 2 common goldfish ( one being 4 inches and the other 3 inches), and 2 ryukin about an inch and half each.
These were in a smaller tank (roughly 6 gallon) for 4 years, i said it was cruel and moved them into my 12.5 gallon tank, here they had more room but i still feel the large common is too big.
Recently my partener went out and bought a blackmoor (1 inch) and a red cap orander (1 inch).
Obviosly i would prefer to keep all the fish but i feel the tank is now too overcrowded for the 6 fish, and i only thought there should have been maybe 3 or 4 fancy goldfish in at the most.
What would be the best thing to do, my dad has got a pond in his garden about 4 foot deep and about 3 by 3 foot which has common golfish in for about 6 years now. if i introduced my two common golfish to the pond after 6 years in a tank would they adapt eswpecially as its winter now.
Any help would be much appreciated thanks
