I want to paint and decorate my living room like you see in magizines but my husband has a plasma tv and an xbox that has to stay there. I was thinking of getting an armoire or entertainment center but they are so expensive. How can I incorporate the tv and things with the design of the living room? I want it to look like a sitting room rather than the room everyone hangs out in, you know, pretty I guess. One of those rooms you see in Southern Living Magizine or Better Homes and Gardens.

My daughter is turning 1 at the end of March… and well, its usually pretty chilly that time of year. But it will be the beginning of Spring, so I want to have her a party with a flower garden theme. But, if its cold, we will probably have to do it indoors, so I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of things I could do in my living room/dining area to make it seem more like a garden for the little ones. I am recently getting into feng shui to help my home to be more relaxing and energy flowing better. I cant go out and buy feng shui items… but was wondering what would be good objects to use that I may have lying around the house for metal, earth, wood and fire? I have a crystal bowl with water in it and floating candles… would that work for water in the living room? i need help… not sure what items are usuable…

My cat sleeps in a crystal bowl that I have on a table in my living room. I didn’t plan for him to sleep there, but every time I put ANYTHING in the bowl, he takes it out and moves in! Where is the weirdest place your cat sleeps?

Our living room is in the back of the house and we have french doors that open inside that lead to our patio. I make all of my own drapes and am just stumped as to what options I have with these new doors. I want a lined curtain of some sort and nothing swaggy. I’ve already chosen my fabrics, just looking for style ideas.
My husband likes to rest in there with the curtains closed and watch TV. I’m looking for something that can be pulled back.

I’ve been searching for unique and stylish window or patio door coverings. I haven’t found anything yet that has caught my eye and stood out as original. I have patio doors in the kitchen and living room, so I’m open to ideas for that as well.

I recently bought Chinese wind chimes and hanged them in my living room.
I slept in the room next door, and had a horrible nightmare, but I rarely have nightmares.

I have patio doors in my living room (they are about 7ft tall). I need to install an air conditioner because the heat in the summer is too un-bearable to live with. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can install one OR has anyone seen a patio door fixture that can accomodate an air conditioner?

I am married to a woman who has a 2 young girls–6 and 3.

A few days ago, I’m not sure exact what got into her, but she was having a difficult time either trying to get the children to eat, or to behave–I’m not sure exactly what happened, but she started screaming something incoherently. That was when I went into the kitchen to try to diffuse the situation.

She threw a glass against the wall and screamed at the children, "You are my worst f*cking nightmare! I HATE BOTH OF YOU! F*CK YOU!"

I grabbed her by the arm and roughly escorted her into the living room while saying, "You want to act like a 2 year old? Then you’ll get treated like one!" and then forced her into a tiny timeout chair in the corner of the room and made her face the wall. I told her that if she got up, I would personally bend her over my lap right in front of her kids, and I wasn’t joking either. Then I wound up a chiming music box that we always play for the children at bedtime and said, "This should cool your nerves."

Afterwards, I went to calm her children down and read some books along with them in the living room while my wife sulked in the little timeout chair with the music box chimes playing.

Now for the past 4 days, my wife has slept in the guest room and she absolutely refuses to speak to me or even be in the same room with me. I just now looked at her myspace, and she has the status switched to "Divorced" and has deleted me off her list.

Honestly, I was extremely offended and appalled that she would use such venomous language towards her own children for any reason like they were 17 and 18 year olds. And I seriously doubt me calmly saying, "Calm down, take a deep breath" would have worked, either. I wanted to drive home a message that she needs to realize she is the parent–NOT THE CHILD. And by forcing her into the timeout chair, I was showing her she was acting like a child.

Or did I really go too far and just need to start looking for a new apartment?

Ok I have painted my living room this "Garden Paradise" color and a wood cask, what color funrniture would look good in here? would it be Cherry Oak or something different?
Also I have done my kitchen slate grey and Kitchen Aid (Red) color for the cubards and trim, looks good ( I have all red kitchen aid..so I wanted it to look good, what decor shall I put on my walls? also my dinning room is wine ( deep colors ) I have yet to buy funrniture for any of these rooms, sold everything when I left California..to move to the east, so any help will do thanks.
