Wind up clock problem….?

My grandpa gave me his old antique Montgomery Ward 31 day wind up clock. Since trying to put it up in my home it will not work. The running joke is that it was on their wall so long it won’t work on my wall. It is fully wound up and cannot turn the key anymore. So is it a mechanism problem or a pendulum problem. It will work for about 3-4 minutes before the pendulum stops. It still chimes when ever I move the hands. Is it something I can fix or should I get it looked at by a pro. Don’t want to waste money if it’s just something I can move with the pendulum. Thanks

FH is Taoist and I am Zen Buddhist (Western, so we’re not having a Chinese wedding), and we are trying to incorporate this into our wedding. We are being married by his mentor, a Taoist priest.

We’d like to keep our reception very simple, but very elegant; think ‘Japanese Garden’ – we’re being married at a botanical gardens, so this makes sense.

The colors I was thinking about are cream, brown, and dark green – earth tones.

Not being a terribly decor-oriented person, I have no idea where to start. I have a concept, but as far as actual ideas for centerpieces and such, am lost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would also not like to spend a lot of money on this.

would you rather….?

ok so going to wedding, would you rather get a box of money with 300 bills…. crystal vase and punch bowl…… or china set? they are all worth 0 just not sure which to give.. what would u want?
for some that are confused i never said the amount was the important part i was just giving that amount to let you know neither gift is cheaper than the other they are all the same price… no one said that the gift had to be expensive, i ‘ve decided to give them that amount.. me personally , that was not at all the question… i just want to know if you got a choice to get one of 3 gifts which would you prefer? i thought my question was clear.

Not just the crappy super bowl performance, but pretty much all live performances (be it an award show, or anything else for that matter). Obviously I’ve never been to a live concert since I prefer to not waste my money, but I’m just curious as to why they keep getting these gigs to sing live. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

She is having the wedding in August 2010 but is hoping to make things herself to save some money. She is having the wedding at a garden and the reception inside a garden greenhouse. Her wedding colors are pink and green and she would like to keep things casual and fun. Nothing too elegant. Any ideas for decorations, centerpieces, wedding favors, etc.?

Also, since the wedding is a garden they are very strict about what can be tossed during the "rice toss." What are some alternatives that won’t leave a mess on the ground? No bubbles please!

Thank you. Also, any links are helpful and appreciated.
Birdseed is not aloud. Neither is confetti. They suggested real rose petals (fake ones are not aloud) and bubbles but said other brides have found other clever ideas.

Which phone company has better coverage?

I’ve been with Fido for about 2 years but, man, they steal your money….but my mom says the reception from them is good. I dunno if i should switch to a different company…
Anyways, which one of these has better coverage…reception…whatever it’s called i’m quite clueless.
Wind Mobile, Telus, Rogers, Bell, Mobilicity, Solo, Fido, Koodo, Chatr, Public Mobile, Virgin Mobile
If i missed any, please feel free to mention.
Also, which company won’t charge you so much for other ridiculous fees? Fido came up with this new fee and i’m getting irritated with it.
Also, which company is good for a teenager’s income

Is it true that semi precious and precious stones have healing powers?
There are many books about this which tell you what to do and how to use the stones etc. But is there an element of truth in this because I don’t want to invest a lot of my time (and some of my money) in this for it to turn out to be useless.
Also they say to ‘channel’ your crystal by saying out loud what you want it to do and creating a vision of this, but doesn’t that sound a bit easy? And what different would it make if you say it or think it?

how much should I charge for a small herb garden?

I planted a rock-lined herb garden for my mother recently, and her co-workers and friends have shown interest in one of their own. I estimate about 250-300$ if I want to make any money, but I feel like I should be charging more, even though I already feel like people will not want to pay that much for one.

The specifics:
20 ft diameter, rock-bordered, one large bag of high-grade potting soil mixed with the topsoil, 4 hours of labor, 1 hour of purchasing plants, 1 hour collecting local stones for border, 1 hour painting rocks as labels for each herb, and a total of 30 plants (9 different herbs).

I don’t have my own tools, so I’d have to use theirs, and I also designed the layout. I would definitely discount if I had to use the customers’ tools and if they also designed the layout of the garden. The price would obviously reflect the size of the garden, but the 20 ft diameter price would be a good starting place.

Thanks for your input!

Is it worth the money for a direct sales company?

I know you have to put quite a bit of money into direct sales companies like Party Lite, Home&Garden, Pampered Chef, etc. Is it really worth it after you pay for the starter kit, catalogs, postage, and gifts at shows?

I have an idea to turn a 50 by 5 foot area that’s behind a retaining wall, that used to be a garden into seating, because right now its just waisted space does anyone know where I could get a large amount of foam or some other water resistant stuffing to make this project work for not a lot of money. ps. I have no design experience so any tips would be helpful.

Thank You
