I live in central Illinois. We need to replace our patio door.. the lock is broke, and it barely opens or closes. The wood trim on the outside is slightly rotted.. We’d like to completely replace it and have a vinyl trim for more maintenance free ease. What might labor on something like that cost?

My sliding patio door has a draft between the stationary portion and the sliding portion when it is closed. When it is windy snow and/or rain will come through this space as well. I tried some weather stripping, but because it slides the adhesive has worn off. Does anyone know of a solution, or a different type of weatherstripping made for this issue? I have had no luck at hardware stores.

The flooring is installed vertically, and the patio door is horizontal. I know I can use an End Moulding horizontally to cover the floor end and to attach to the door’s dottom frame. But I saw some new homes and they do not have a end moulding. They just use a (narrow) plank to connect the floor and the door’s bottom frame. How does this work do? Thanks

My cat and dog keep smelling the carpet at my patio door. Im afraid their going to mark it just like the stray cat did. I want to avoid any pets stains on my new carpet.

I have a 95 pound Bouvier. I am thinking of installing a patio door panel style dog door. How easy, difficult is it to install? Effect on energy consumption. Ease of training and or use for pet. any comments, etc are welcome. Thanks!

I have two new neighbors who recently moved into the apartment below me. Our patios are stacked on top of each other. I have no problem with them actually smoking, but when they smoke outside, it drifts up through my patio and into my open window. THey keep their patio door shut to keep smoke from getting into their house, yet it all comes into mine. They are nice people, and I don’t want to start some sort of feud. How do I approach them about not smoking outside . . . I mean its outside?

It’s a standard, sliding glass patio door on the second floor balcony. Approximately 8 or 9 feet wide total.
I can feel cold air coming through like crazy , and it’s not even officially winter yet!
I have vertical blinds which i must keep up and usable and I can’t do any permanent changes because this is an apartment.

I have patio doors in my living room (they are about 7ft tall). I need to install an air conditioner because the heat in the summer is too un-bearable to live with. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can install one OR has anyone seen a patio door fixture that can accomodate an air conditioner?

Our patio door has a draft coming from the bottom. The draft is where the door slides, on the stationary door. Any ideas?

I have a steel patio door going to my deck. It is a 64" X 20" full light opening. A friend of mine gave me a 64" X 22" insert containing blinds built into the window. What power tools do I need to cut the steel other than a hacksaw?

I live in a townhome which the association requires that patio door replacements must conform with the rest of the units. After conferring with a number of window stores, it appears that my patio door (circa 1996) is no longer produced. So essentially, I am in need of a custom solution… made to order patio doors. Help!

I need a new sliding(gliding) patio door. I live in Chicago suburbs and I’ve been to Menards, Lowes, and Home Depot but their prices are somewhat out of my range.
Does anyone know a good place to buy patio doors from? Something that’s not very expensive (around 0). Are there any direct outlets that sell patio doors for less than hardware stores?

I want to get a new sliding patio door, but with between the glass blinds. I had Pella out for an estimate and it was a bit more than I expected. Is there any other companies that anyone could recommend that does this type door?
