I need some extra money and I’m a teen. I was going to sell the actual vegetables in a wheelbarrow around my neighborhoods or the Farmer’s Market…but now I decided I can get some earlier money…
I decided to sell herbs and other plants. ( Like when they are about to bew transplanted)
How can I start a plant selling business?

If you had a 4 foot by 8 foot patch for a garden, which plants would you want to have the most? Assume there is a seperate patch for tomatoes, and those don’t need to be included.
Thank you

I heard a while back that weeds actually end up helping other plants grow because they die and become a fertilizer. I recently tried to look more into this, and all I can find is a bunch of gardening sites talking about how to control/kill weeds.
I realize that weeds are probably bad in home gardens, etc.. I am wondering if they serve a role in forests or something of that nature.
Can anyone provide a source for this information to confirm it?

My mom hired a gardener earlier this month to help her re-style the garden ready for summer. At first he came across as a genuine and nice guy. Then we noticed things missing. Ornaments vanished, plants disappeared and our lawnmower gone. My mom is usually at work when he’s there so she decided to stay home without him knowing. She couldn’t believe it when she found him digging up the plants and taking them. When she confronted him, he gave her all sorts of excuses but he bought them back. Then one day I came home and my mom was a wreck. She had lost a child before I was born and kept a memorial in the garden dedicated to my brother. They’d had an argument and the gardener pulled the rose plant up and smashed all the ornaments. Since then, he keeps turning up unannounced and won’t leave when my mom asks him, taking things when he does go. He has even threatened my mom. We’ve been to the police but they just tell us the same thing and don’t seem to help. What can we do?

Ok, I have 3 female bettas and one male betta…well…. HAD… each in their own gallon bowl…yes shame on me for that, I kept up with water changes and kept their water crystal clear.
I figured out the male, which I have had since november, has had a fungus… I figured this out about 2 months ago, and have been trying to cure him with Jungle Fungus Clear. The fungus quit growing on him, but it was still in the water, so I kept up treatment. Today I noticed that it was in one of the females’ bowls and so I freaked and did immediate water changes.
The two without the fungus, I changed their water as normal except that I dissolved a very small amount of salt in their water by taking about a cup of water and dissolving 1/8 tsp. of aquarium salt in it… then I only put about 2 tsp. of that water in all 4 of the bowls, by adding about a 1/2 tsp. every 15 minutes.
The male hasn’t had anything in his bowl except water (duh) since I started treatment, so of course, I only put water back in the females bowl too. The salt was a new thing this time around.
Yes, I dechlorinated the water with the proper measurements! And reacclimated them to their water before puting them back in the bowls. The female is kinda skittish so I tried to give her somewhere to hide since she didn’t have her plants and weighted a cup down on the bottom of the bowl after rinsing it extensively…. maybe it still had soap on it?
When I found the two dead, they were coated with a sort of white…. film… it didn’t look like the fungus from before…. is this normal or did something perhaps react with something else?
The only things I did different were the cups and the salt…. so I’m guessing those are the problems. Has anyone had any experience with the fungus med.s and the use of aquarium salt? Did I perhaps do something wrong with those?
Sorry this is so long…. The male and one of the females died. The other two are perfectly fine and healthy, no fungus, no weird behavior or anything.
All your help is appreciated!
-_- goldfish live 20 years… bettas 5…. I had him 6 months! He was young when I bought him…. and the other two with the salt are perfectly fine…. thanks though. They don’t just die… they went from fine other than the fungus which wasn’t hurting their eating habits or behavior, to dead in a couple of hours. It was something I did, I know that. I want to know what so I can keep it from happening in the future!

I’m trying to design a solar powered garden watering system for my parents, whom live in the desert. I have two possible options:
1. Use a primary water heating system, where a water tank is heated by the sun and the water is condensed, and then drains (via gravity) onto the plants.
-problems.. The water will only flow during 75% of the year, the water has to be replaced with an electric pump, and I have no clue what dimensions\materials will be required for the base water tank.
2. A secondary solar heating system, where solar cells power batteries that then drive a heating system and a refill pump.
-problems… I don’t have any clue how many watts are going to be required from the solar cells in order to keep the whole system running, and I don’t know what type of heating unit to use in order to turn the water into vapor.
So I was wondering what system I should go with? Plus, can you elaborate on why one is better\cheaper than the others.
Hardy har har. Very funny. But there isn’t much rain in the DESERT!
I’m not too hot on the idea of a gravity fed system unless there was a valve that was set to increase output upon higher demand times (i.e. hottest point during day), and turn off during the evenings. I appreciate the input though. Got my mind going too.

There’s a movie that is recent , it’s this disease or epidemic which blows on the wind and turns people murderous, and everybody believes it is the plants spreading the disease on the wind. Does this ring any bells?

I live in Oakland, CA, and these "mystery flowers" appeared in my deck garden. I’m including links to pics for easier identification. The first flower started out with white petals, but now they’re turning a fuschia color. The second flower now has a white star-shaped five petal design with a yellow center. Does anyone know what these are?

The first photo actually shows two different mystery plants. The chamomile-like flowers are in the forefront, and there’s another mystery vine-like plant in the background.

I planted a rock-lined herb garden for my mother recently, and her co-workers and friends have shown interest in one of their own. I estimate about 250-300$ if I want to make any money, but I feel like I should be charging more, even though I already feel like people will not want to pay that much for one.
The specifics:
20 ft diameter, rock-bordered, one large bag of high-grade potting soil mixed with the topsoil, 4 hours of labor, 1 hour of purchasing plants, 1 hour collecting local stones for border, 1 hour painting rocks as labels for each herb, and a total of 30 plants (9 different herbs).
I don’t have my own tools, so I’d have to use theirs, and I also designed the layout. I would definitely discount if I had to use the customers’ tools and if they also designed the layout of the garden. The price would obviously reflect the size of the garden, but the 20 ft diameter price would be a good starting place.
Thanks for your input!

My backyard at home is completely cement. There is no ground to grow a garden. Any suggestions or ideas on how I can have my own garden and grow my own plants ?
Maybe even something that won’t corrode the cement over time ?
