Is clock repairing a lost art?

I have a beautiful handcarved chime clock that was purchased years ago and brought here from Germany. It finally stopped chiming and 2 of the coils are wound too tight and I CANNOT find anyone who works on clocks anymore..Used to a jewelry repairman had the knowledge and capabilty to wotk on them but I think it has become one of the "lost" arts..Any suggestions on where I can take i or ship it?

Living in Santa Rosa, I’ve noticed numerous train gates have been replaced. The have all the bells and whistles (no pun intended??) with LED lenses and Electronic bells. The old "functionable" crossing gates have been left in operation. In addition to all of this the literal gate arms have been re birthed and can be seen at most crossings. Knowing that all traffic signals wind up in a humongus lot, do they do this with all the old crossing signals??I would really appreciate it if anyone (rail worker???) knows about this or has any information

What type and cost for a sailboat?

Ok, I know absolutely nothing about sailing, but just trying to figure out the minimum costs before I take classes, and seriously think about getting one…
How much and what type (brand/make/model) of sailboat that could do the following:
1) hold 2 adults & 2 kids
2) Have an outboard on it, in case of emergencies or no wind..
3) make it from Miami, FL to Key West.

What would roughly be the cost of a "no bells and whistles" used sailboat like this?
How long would it take to travel the distance? (based on average winds)
How much does it cost to keep your boat sitting in a marina

I’m basically looking for a sailboat to do short to medium range sailing adventures in…
Thanks!
Just what is the cost please.
sheesh! I have no intention of sailing anywhere without the proper experience…just wondering what the costs would be..if it was too much then I would take up golf or something else! :)

My sandals are making noises when I walk?

My sandals are making a "swishing" sound like air coming out with each step. They are brand new and it has something to do with the cushion in the heal and top part of the sandal. How can I make it stop? Or will it go away as I wear them more?

My mom has lived in the same house for over 20 years. Recently someone moved into the house next door. He’s a younger guy who apparently stays up late and we’ve had issues with noise coming from his place early into the morning. His mom comes by alot and recently asked us to remove wind chimes that according to her,"do not let her son sleep during the day." She recently called the cops to have them speak to my mom about the issue. When he moved in, they were very visible, but not until we had to call the cops for his disrupting my mom’s sleep during one of his parties did this become an issue. My mom is ill and needs her sleep, my sis lives with her and has to wake up early in the morning, so she needs her sleep as well. But when we explained this to the cops, they said the neighbor’s mom had a real issue with the chimes keeping her son up, she doesn’t even live there. It doesn’t seem right that the cops ignored the fact that his antics keep adult people up during the evening into the morning and yet seem to be catering to this guy’s mom’s wishes while her precious angel sleeps away his hangover. So who is right here??

Thumping Sound In Ear?

This time of the year I often get a thumping sound in my left ear only(my right eardrum ruptured years ago and never healed). It thumps in rhythm to my heartbeat. It’s almost always when I’m laying down, rarely in any other position. It’s worse when the weather’s damp. Also sometimes when I stand up I’ll get this "rushing" sensation in both ears. I went to an ENT and he said, "I don’t know"(and charged me 0.00). I have allergies and almost constant ear and sinus infections. Does anyone know what causes this?

I had asked a similar question a few days ago, but it was reported and removed. I appealed to YA Customer Care, and they said no. I appealed again, and there was no reply since.

So, here’s asking this question again, as I didn’t save the answers I received the last time round. Some of you had given very good answers, so I believe we can go a little more in-depth with this passage. :)

In John 1, we saw that Jesus came to His own (the people of Israel) and His own did not receive Him.

In John 2, we learnt that Jesus performed His first miracle by turning the water into wine at a wedding, a symbolism of restoring joy to Israel, who was burdened by religious laws.

In John 3, we heard Jesus proclaiming the gospel to Nicodemus, a man of the Pharisees, by saying "For God so loved the world…"

In John 4, we witnessed Jesus extending grace to the Samaritan woman at the well, proclaiming to her that He is their long-awaited Messiah.

Now in John 5, we came upon a scene in Jerusalem, where Jesus healed a man among many sick people waiting to be healed at a pool called Bethesda (house of mercy).

The curious thing perhaps is that the man who had an infirmity for 38 years initially didn’t seem to have faith for healing. When Jesus asked him, "Do you want to be made well?" instead of saying yes or no, the man appeared to be wallowing in self-pity, complaining about his sorry plight. (John 5:6-8)

Would the number 38 be significant? For we learnt that the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 38 years because of their disobedience. (Deuteronomy 2:14)

Hebrews 3-4 also mention about the Israelites’ trial in the wilderness – "do not hard your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness… …so we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief."

We note that after Jesus has made the man well, and found him later in the temple, Jesus said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you." (John 5:14)

What did Jesus mean by "sin no more"? Did He mean that after the person is healed, he should not commit sin again or else something worse will happen to him?

Or was Jesus referring to "an evil heart of unbelief", as written in Hebrews 3:12?

No doubt that sin has its consequences, and we are all against sin. The question is: how should we interpret this "sin" in the context of John 5?

I know that sounds like a lot to consider. Well, do feel free to be led by the Spirit and share what you have learnt regarding any of the above thoughts. I believe we all can learn from one another. :)
Great answers, my brethren. :) Let’s continue to talk about Jesus, for the Father delights in His Son, and He delights in US talking about His beloved Son. It doesn’t really matter if our answers are not completely correct. We are to preach the Word – proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ – in season and out of seaon.
This is probably the longest question (with additional details) I have ever asked so far. So since it is already very long, might as well make it longer with further details before I close this question. hehe

Amen, sister D, we are one with God, and He discloses His revelations of His Word to us. Yes, bro Deonamihouse, the man was suffering from unbelief. I believe that’s the reason he remained sick for 38 years. Just as the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 38 years due to their unbelief, this man is a picture of Israel who could not enter the promised land where God’s blessings (healing, provisions, etc) are because of unbelief. The promised land today for us is the "rest" that God wants us to enjoy – to rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We only need to believe and enjoy what Christ has died to give us. :)

Bro Tim and Zekzain, I appreciate your concern. There is a place for Bible numerics, which differs from secular numerology, and we need God’s wisdom.

Where is that music coming from???

I keep hearing this music….a beat that keeps repeating itself… almost like trance music on downers. I’m assuming it’s some kind of pop-up ad? Spyware? Adware? But there is no window….no way of "closing it out". Where the heck is it coming from and how do I stop it? It’s seriously annoying and just chimes in my ear out of nowhere.

Or am I just imaging it? *sigh*
crap…it just happened again. *smacks head repeatedly against the keyboard*

Just wondering what you think is wrong with what sounds like common-sense to me? Which one of these quote do you disagree with?

"Tucson and Arizona and the rest of the country have become very divided by a lot of the rhetoric that exists, particularly over the radio waves and some TV air, which is designed, in my opinion, to inflame the public against public officials, elected officials, government and the administration. And that kind of an atmosphere, in my opinion, influences people who are not stable — people who have troubled personalities."

Asked Monday what would help heal these divisions, Dupnik talked about a return to old-fashioned morality. It’s an outlook that comes from a man who has seen "simpler" times and who tends to view the world through the lens of right and wrong — moral and immoral decisions.

"We were taught to respect authority, and parents and, basically, everything. And, in my opinion, that’s one of the most basic things that has changed in our society: People don’t have much respect for anything. They use foul and vulgar language. Violence is — it fills all the movies. It’s hard to watch a movie that’s not filled with violence and vulgarity and sex."

"Organizations and individuals need to examine this issue of civility in public discourse, political discourse, and I think it wouldn’t hurt for some aspects of the media — radio and TV, primarily — to examine their motivation and behavior."

Linden Chime wall clock chimes incorrectly.?

I have a quartz movement wall clock that my mother has owned forever. The face has arabic numerals & The only words are "Linden" above the center, and "Chime" below it. It looks similar to a Howard Miller Elliott wall clock. The clock works & will chime, but it’s supposed to chime once on the half hour – instead, it chimes for the hour. For instance – it will chime 7 times at 7:30, 8 times at 8:30, etc. rather than the one time it is supposed to. It’s already ben to a jeweler, and he was incapable of fixing it. Is there an easy way to fix this? Failing that, how do I tell who made the movement & where I can get a new one?
Addendum – the clock chimes correctly on the hour – it will chime 7 times at 7 o’clock. When the clock reaches 7:30, though, it will chime 7 times AGAIN. 8:00, 8 times. 8:30, 8 times, etc. It’s only supposed to chime once on the half hour.
