To save water i reuse water from the home (washing veggies etc.) to water the garden, my problem is the tree i try to water is on a bit of a slope and when i pour the water to water it the water flows down hill and not much of it ends up in the garden.
Any ideas to make water absorption better because in Australia water evaporates so quickly.
Thanks
My backyard has an inconvenient slope that directs water at my basement and is too steep to plant anything. On one side it currently has a 4′ lumber retaining wall which is rotting. I’d like to replace it all with a series of smaller masonry retaining walls to improve drainage and allow for a vegetable and herb garden.
Any idea on where to find resources to help me plan this venture out?
I am planning my spring planting and would like to design a low maintenance perennial garden on a beach side sea wall embankment. I have an area with sandy soil, on a slight slope that gets partial sun. Plant height is not an issue because it is on a slope and will not interfere with our water views. Can you recommend a true, tried and tested group of plants that fit this criteria? I do a lot of gardening but am inexperienced with plantings that will withstand salt spray from the ocean.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Living on a slope my toy poodles are able to dig under the gate of my fenced yard. I happen to have some patio stones lying there now to prevent this but would like to install them in that area permanently. It’s a small area and as a sr. citizen would like to do it myself. Any suggestions appreciated.
i have a 8x 10 peice of my yard that i would like to put a patio on. the only problem is that it retains water no matter which way i slope it. if its level or sloped either way it holds water. what should i do about the water and what material should i use to build my pation i was thinking either concrete or paver. your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

my back garden currently has a slope uphill of about 20 degrees, i want to build a path on either side of it and i was thinking of using gravels, but i read from somewhere that gravels can run downhill on a wet weather, so i was wondering if there is any material that’s simple to work with and does not have many problems being on a slope. i don’t want to consider building steps unless i really have to.
Planning on installing a hot tub on my patio but the problem is how would I go about leveling out the surface without having to break up the concrete? Thanks for any suggestions.
The patio slightly slope for water run off but I need it to be level for the hot tub installation.
FYI The hot tub dimension is 90"x90"
I have about 6 feet of space between the house and the fence and I want to create a little patio or sitting area out there. There is nothing but dirt right now and there is a good 1 foot difference between the hight of the ground at the house and the height at the fence. What is the best method for flattening the ground, then paving over with stone or brick? And should I leave some slope for drainage purposes? Any other drainage issues to consider?
My old patio is not doing it for me anymore. We are putting a door from the master bedroom to the patio and will need to have steps built so I figure this is the time. I now have an ugly painted concrete pation with a bad slope (towards the house) and would like a stamped concrete patio, but cannot figure out where I find someone to do this work.
Thank you for any help or further information. I am at a loss!
I live in Sonoma County, California. How much would I expect to pay for demolition and installation of a 500 square food stamped concrete patio?
