How did old water fountains, such as the ones in Rome or other places in Europe, spray water before they had pumps powered by electricity?

I was just wondering what water fountains native americans drank out of before the civil rights movement. Also I was wondering what asians and south americans drank out of. Thanks in advance

I’d like to get a very stressed friend one of those tranquil water fountains for his office desk, can you recommend a brand that is long lasting, quiet motor & doesn’t look cheap or ugly? Links would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I know they didn’t like the "colored" folk, but still, I’d get the idea if it were cheaper, but it cost more money to put in two bathrooms per sex and two water fountains.

There used to be water fountains, back in the 1980s, in front of Macy’s and Boscov’s although the stores were under different names back then.

Why are water fountains built into toilets in Japan?

I asked for directions to the closest water fountain and the person I asked pointed me toward the restrooms. It took a few clicks of the buttons on the electronic device to find out how to activate the drinking fountain. I just thought it was a little bit odd that they place the fountain inside toilets in Japan, but as the saying goes "when in Rome do as the Romans do."

Hi everyone. I just moved to the city and am trying to find a fun, cost-effective way to stay fit and healthy. Gym memberships are pretty expensive here, but I need to stay hydrated during my workouts. Can anyone recommend a good walking area that has water fountains to drink from? I live in Pac Heights so something close is preferable, but I’d like to know about other trails too. Thanks!

my husband is sure there must be drinking water fountains all over so people don’t die in the heat. i was there once years ago and don’t remember ever seeing drinking water fountains anywhere. do any of the big hotels or anywhere else in las vegas supply water to the public free of charge?

Even in the same building, everyone knows that there are one or two water fountains that are the ‘best." Why are a few water fountains ice-cold while the rest all seem to be tepid at best?

The private school that I attend recently built a new athletic facility, separated from the main campus (no buildings are connected to it), but there are no water fountains in the building. Is it required for private schools to have water fountains in an athletic facility?

Please answer with a source! I may approach the school board with this, and I need a legal, legitimate source!
