Take a trip to a 100 yen store (actually 105yen nowadays). Mobile phone accessories fit the bill for cheap and tiny.
For less than 300yen you can get chopsticks.
At most shrines you can buy lucky charms called "omamori" for 500 yen (ish); each themed to different needs.
Paper fans are popular in tourist shops.
A "daruma" doll. You dot one eye to make a wish and then dot the other eye when it happens. Tomorrow (4th March) Jindaiji Temple in Chofu (Tokyo – Keio line) has a daruma festival.
Also the road upto Sensou-ji shrine in central(kind of) Tokyo has tonnes of touristy stuff.
As does "Oriental Bazaar" shop on Omotesando – Harajuku.
Everyone like Jaanese sake too.
buy the girls (maybe for some guys too) furoshiki.
if a friend of mine were to travel in japan, i’d ask for furoshiki.
